Provincial Nominee Programs

Every Canadian Province has its own immigration program. Canadian provinces can nominate foreign nationals via Provincial Nominee Programs to immigrate to Canada and settle in a particular province.

Since Canada is a federal state, every province has wide economic rights. That’s why each province has developed its own immigration program to help the local economies. According to the new 2019-2021 Immigration Levels Plan, the Government of Canada allocated 61,000 spots for economic immigrants via Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) in 2019.

Provincial Nominee Programs are a good alternative for the candidates who for some reason don’t meet the requirements of Federal Skilled Workers, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class programs.

Advantages of Provincial Nominee Programs

Many provinces usually offer fast-track immigration for candidates whose professional field correspond with the needs of the provincial labour market. In many provinces exist lists of the in-demand occupations. If your occupation is in such in-demand list of occupations, your chance to immigrate to that province may be higher!

Immigration via PNPs is a two-stage process. First, one needs to be invited by the provincial government, and once nominated, a candidate must go through the Federal stage. This immigration path is usually longer than the Federal programs, however, it is more guaranteed since provincial nomination grants 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of the Express Entry.
